As I contemplate the changes that will be occurring in the next month, I get downright scared! First, I will be graduating from Brigham Young University with a Bachelor's degree in Marriage, Family, and Human Development. I know it seems like a hokey major, and I was definitely one to (cough, cough) agree. Until I declared it as my major with the intent of becoming a Marriage and Family Therapist; then it makes perfect sense!
This past year I have experienced a myriad of emotions in the process of applying for graduate school -- but mostly frustration and annoyance. Studying for/taking the
GRE is the worst thing EVER. (Ask me again after I've had a child, but for now it's one of the biggest pains in my life!) The entire process is arduous to say the least. In the end, of the six schools I applied to, I got interviews for 4-- Northern Illinois University, University of Nevada
Las Vegas, University of Louisiana Monroe, and East Carolina University. I was
ecstatic when I got accepted to all four, until I realized how heartbreaking actually picking one was! It made me almost wish that I had only applied to one, but only almost. The one we ended up picking was one I had actually tried to take off my list several times, but felt it should be kept on. Well, the more I learned about it, the more I liked it! In the end, we picked East Carolina University for a myriad of reasons, but most of all because it just felt right.
So we'll be moving to
Greenville, North Carolina on May 10
th, which is in less than a month!!!! Fortunately, I was able to get a 12-month
assistantship where I will be working at the
MFT clinic and starting shortly after we move in. Unfortunately, Steve still has not found a job. Hopefully it will be easier to find a job when you are not over 2,000 miles away!!! We have found a cute little townhouse with the help of our new friends in
Greenville, and have gotten a great deal on a moving van! I am nervous, but also very excited, and glad that I have someone to share the experience with!
